Bedroom Bands

Well hello and welcome newcomers to edithbowman.com, probably the only website with my name on it that isn't slagging me off. Do people seriously not have ANYTHING better to do with their time. I care not a lot.

So here it is and sorry it's taken me an eon to actually get my arse in gear and start communication with you regularly, consider this the start of a beautiful friendship. So thanks to all the bands who are registering for bedroom bands, i have to say that i'm a little overwhelmed by the response. Thanks a gazillion.

Sorry that we can't put everyone up but we don't want this to be the new myspace, it has to be a bit more select than that. I'm making my way through all your pages and selecting ones that i love and sticking them up on the site. The plan in the long run is to hopefully in time, maybe do a wee bedroom bands tour. But anyway it would be nice to hear from you all anyway and keep me updated on what you are upto. I"ve also stuck up some pics i've taken recently, a few vampire weekend shots and guillemots for your perusal. Anyway i'm off to enjoy what is left of the bank holiday in monday (only in some parts of the world) but i'll be back for more before the end of the week.

The Boxer Rebellion.. Amazing!

I was at proud galleries in london last night. it's a bit of a regular thursday night attendance for me and some mates. I know the scallywags that set it up and they always deliver a good night of entertainment. Seen loads of good bands in there just before they hit the big time. Watching the twang take a piss in a jar before they went on stage as they couldn't get anywhere near the loo has been a highlight. This week however caught The Boxer Rebellion who i LOVE.

They got dropped just as their debut album was being released, but that didn't stop them. Currently putting the finishing touches to their new LP, it's good to see a band not swayed by current trends and doing what they want to do, and doing it well.

Glastonbury 2007

how's the trench foot then? do you know what for those of you who were at glastonbury, and i know it was really hard to get away from the mud, it was still an incredible experience. I was working loads, zane and i were doing all the tele stuff for BBC3, in fact we're doing all the festivals this year together for BBC3. Still got Reading and Leeds to come (more on that later) and the return of the Electric Proms. But it was early rise for me most days to try and catch as many of the early bands as possible.

One of the first ones i got to see was Reverand and the Makers, i've been trying to catch them live for ages and a friday lunchtime in a muddy field was a pretty good location, a great start to Glastonbury 2007. I hate how everyone goes on about the weather, it's like a middle aged conversation, just see the positive in things now and again. Look at all the bands that you can see, you're with your mates and make it one of the most memorable weekends of your life. Because of work i was well happy with the addition of the new stage this year, up by the stone circle which kicked off most nights about midnight, just as i was finishing work. Saturday night i finished up and stomped my way up there to catch the end of Damon Alburn's African Express jam then proceeded to sit and chat and drink till the sun came up.

Just perfect. So many highlights, i'll stick a couple of pics in the gallery for you of stuff we got up to. I know it was a bit of a wash out what with the weather and all but it's just the most incredible experience, there is so much that goes on underneath the surface at glasto. And it makes it all the more special when you can share it with friends and family. Until next year then.
